Photo of the Day

I visited Filoli Estate to see the holiday lights, but there was also a Lewis’ Woodpecker in the orchard by the parking lot that I wanted to photograph. This unusually marked woodpecker is rare in coastal California. We got there just as dusk was setting in and the lighting did not allow easy identification, but the bird ended up being perched in the closest tree.
